Significant growth and change cannot happen when you’re sitting comfortably in your little nest, letting Mama bring you food, tuck you in at night, and groom you. No, growth happens when you step onto the edge of the nest, look down at what appears to be certain death below, spread your tiny wings and take a leap of faith.
We’ve seen this over and over again as we’ve observed those who are prepared to receive the good news of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. It most often includes those in a state of change, such as coming to Canada from another country, learning a new language, and striving to achieve great life goals. These are they who are most often ready to listen. It also includes those going through a life crisis, such as losing a loved one, experiencing divorce, or facing a great health or economic challenge. One way or another, each of us will change at some point. We’ll either jump, or be pushed, but we’ll change.
It is our role as missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to invite, nudge, and sometimes even give a gentle push to help you on your way. Why? Because, contrary to what you might feel as you peer over the edge to the cliffs below, your tiny wings are capable of flight. You will not tumble to your death, but, flapping for your life, will soon be soaring to heights you can’t even see from your hidden little nest. The greatest joy and peace of your life awaits in the worship of Jesus Christ.
Come on, I dare you. We’ll help. Step to the edge and jump!
