Our single greatest challenge as missionaries is to reawaken those who where once active members of the Church, but who have since fallen asleep. They gradually died spiritually, leaving only the skeletal remains of their former, vibrant spiritual self. And while this may conjure a spooky Halloween-like image, to us it is so terribly sad. We often cry for these wonderful souls who now sleep in a grave of lukewarm apathy.
“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” (Revelation 3:15-16)
“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow him. But if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.” (1 Kings 18:21)
Wake up, dear friends! Come back! Please, please rejoin the world of the living, loving, Church of Jesus Christ. It is not too late, but you must act now and not delay even one more day. We’re here to help in any way we can, but you must make the effort to come alive again.
